Questar 3.5" Duplex Telescope

If you want to observe both the earth and the sky at close hand, you won't find a better scope to do it than the Questar Duplex. The Duplex adds a quick-disconnect mechanism to the optical tube of the standard 3.5" Questar. This allows the optical tube to be detached from the astronomical mount and placed on an optional photo tripod for use in the field as a terrestrial spotting scope. In the astronomical mode, all the features of a complete observatory scope fall readily to hand as you use this 8-pound gem. The all-metal equatorial fork mount has tabletop tripod legs, engraved setting circles whose numbers can never wear off, and manual slow motion controls with automatic clutches (no tiny levers to grope for to engage the controls). An AC motor drive provides automatic tracking. As a terrestrial spotting scope, the Questar is the favorite of birding tour leaders whose income depends on being able to unfailingly show their customers superb views of rare and distant birds. They know they can rely on a Questar to keep their customers happy. As a spotting scope, the Duplex will keep you happy, too. Standard accessories include two premium $350 eyepieces, a built-in $350 Barlow that flips into place at the touch of a lever, a thread-in glass solar filter, and a glass solar filter for the internal 4x right angle finder. A luggage-quality hard case holds all components and fits easily into an airliner's overhead luggage compartment. This is the Rolls Royce of telescopes . . . and spotting scopes. Free shipping on this scope. Supplied Accessories: 1.25" 16mm and 24mm eyepieces (54x to 120x, depending on eyepiece and whether built-in 1.5x Barlow is used); built-in 4x finder (6x when 16mm eyepiece is used); VHR silver coated and overcoated pyrex mirror; broadband dielectric multicoated optics; built-in star diagonal; dual arm fork mount; quick disconnect optical tube with built-in photo tripod adapter for terrestrial use; setting circles (r. a. circle power driven); sidereal rate AC motor drive (2.7 watts); manual slow motion controls; thread-in dust cap; 1.5" aperture off-axis solar filter; solar filter for finder; tabletop tripod legs; locking hard case; self-storing dewcap with embossed star chart; embossed Moon chart on scope barrel; ten-year warranty (five years on coatings and two years on drive and focuser).
