The EfstonScience Cosmic Connections Rural Observing site is located at the Palgrave Conservation Area, approximately 10 km north of the Town of Bolton on Duffy’s Lane.

Look for two orange signs with a large white star on them on the side of the road that will guide you to our Observing site. Signs are located at the of Patterson Sideroad & Duffy’s Lane and at the Palgrave Conservation Area Entrance on the east side of Duffy’s Lane. There are no street signs marking the entrance so it is easily missed. The entrance is just north of a steep hill and the last curved portion of Duffy’s Lane on the east side of the road.

There is a gate at the entrace of the site. An EfstonScience representative will arrive before sunset to unlock and open the gate. Drive slowly along the dirt road to the square parking area at the end of the dirt road where you can park your vehicle and set up equipment. There is ample space for parking and equipment set-up for approximately fifty vehicles. The parking lot surface is hard packed gravel so please wear appropriate footware.

SOME ETIQUETTE: If you arrive after dark, to be considerate of people already set up whose eyes have already adjusted to the dark, please try to reduce the intensity of your car’s headlights (please use use daytime running lights only), and/or limit the amount of time you drive through the site with your car’s headlights on (without foregoing safety, of course!). We hope to see you there!

PARKING: Please park your vehicle perpendicular to the parking lot to maximize space. be considerate and don’t crowd the entrance of the parking lot with your vehicle — drive in as far as possible.

NO PETS: Although we’re animal lovers, we ask you not to bring your dog or cat to the observing sessions.

Remember that those with telescopes are here to observe, so please do not disturb them or touch any equipment without permission. Please be respectful of the property and do not litter. To prevent fire of brush, trees, etc., dispose of cigarettes safely in an appropriate receptacle (ashtray, can, etc.). Please note that alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the conservation area.
