To use the system, the driver simply inserts his SmartCard into the On-Board Reader before starting the vehicle. The driver's ID will automatically be relayed to the console for authentication. At the end of the trip, driver simply presses a button, and his driving data is automatically downloaded onto the SmartCard.

Back at the office, fleet managers can quickly and easily download the data into their PCs using the Desktop Reader. They can also create administrative SmartCards to apply limits, thresholds, and authorizations to the DriveRight consoles[~]all without ever removing them from the vehicles.
